About AquaClimb®—AquaClimb® Inspiration

It all started with a desire for more.

More fun, more challenges, more experiences, more exploration, more accomplishments. That's the AquaClimb® philosophy and the inspiration behind our products.

Things were different when we were kids. Growing up in the 60's and 70's we were encouraged to challenge ourselves and explore our physical limitations by climbing trees, making our own zip lines, jumping off of swings at the height of their arc, digging tunnels in the back yard and finding adventures in every park, yard and wooded copse in our neighborhoods. Those were the days when society encouraged us to be adventurers, explorers, anyone we dreamed we wanted to be.

But times have changed and things are more dangerous today than they once were. We discourage our children from taking risks because the world in general is more hazardous than when we were kids. So where can our children find those vital challenges that give them the sense of accomplishment which is so important to their healthy development and how they view the challenges that life throws at them?

That's where AquaClimb® comes in.

Our AquaClimb® products provide a SAFE environment where children can challenge themselves and experience the thrill of danger without the actual danger being present. With the AquaClimb® Classic, AquaClimb® Sport and AquaClimb® Natural our children can capture that sense of adventure we had when we were children in a controlled environment with no real risk of physical injury.

Why is that perception of risk so important? Child development experts point out that without the learning experiences involved in risk-taking play children cannot learn to manage risk successfully as adults. Organizations like PlayEngland (http://www.playengland.org.uk/), the International Play Association (http:ipaworld.org) and experts like Tim Gill, author of Growing Up In a Risk Averse SocietyTim Gill (2007) London: Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation; 94 pages, have championed the cause of allowing children to take risks in their play so that they can learn the crucial risk-assessment skills required everyday in adult life. Without these abilities our children will not have the necessary coping mechanisms to evaluate risk and meet the adult challenges they will face once the consequences of mistakes become far more dangerous than when they were children.

Our AquaClimb® products can be one, important tool in establishing these coping mechanisms and risk assessment skills. But let's not forget the most important part of what the AquaClimb® Classic, AquaClimb® Sport and AquaClimb® Natural are: they're fun. And children always learn the most when they don't realize they're learning at all. In other words, when they're having fun!
